Our PHP team love using Symfony. It's the best solution for large scale PHP development, where sites are needing to scale to meeting high traffic loads.
For sites requiring a content management system, we use SteerCMS, a powerful open source solution based on the Symfony framework. SteerCMS also provides extensibility, so we are able to build upon it very easily to create even the most complex content management system.

Symfony is a full-stack framework, a library of cohesive classes written in PHP5.
It provides an architecture, components and tools for developers to build complex web applications faster. Choosing symfony allows you to release your applications earlier, host and scale them without problem, and maintain them over time with no surprise.
Symfony is based on experience. It does not reinvent the wheel: it uses most of the best practices of web development and integrates some great third-party libraries. |

If Symfony doesn't fit the bill?
As we mentioned previously, when tackling a project there are 4 key questions to be asked. Question 3 is "What is the best possible solution?" - and if the answer to that question is not, "Symfony", then we bring on board our other prized tool - CakePHP.
CakePHP is a rapid development framework for PHP that provides an extensible architecture for developing, maintaining, and deploying applications. Using commonly known design patterns like MVC and ORM within the convention over configuration paradigm, CakePHP reduces development costs and helps developers write less code.
We normally utilise CakePHP for small to medium sized projects - however there are always exceptions to that statement.
